Kodigong Panlaban sa Pandaraya: The Jester-in-Exile's Sample Ballot (A Sort-of Sticky Post)

Hello folks, it's been ages.

Perhaps later I'm going to talk about why I have been -- and will be -- gone for quite a long while, but for now I have a promise to keep: my sample ballot.

Before I get into that, I have a rant.

I know that BPOs and ITOs cannot operate without their staff, but Jesus Christ on a rotten soapbox, why is there much talk that the call center agents being disallowed to go on leave to be able to vote?

A number of call center acquaintances have let me know that their requests for vacation leave to be able to vote have been denied. Why? Because their stupid-ass bosses say that voting is unimportant; the bosses say they aren't going to vote anyway, why should the staff have to; the bosses say that voting is a privilege, not a right

Or whatever nonsense.

You bosses, you forget that your company cannot operate in this country against the law. Preventing a voter from voting is an election offense.

Paging advocacy lawyers. Moolah-making time.

Now to the sample ballot I will prepare for Monday's use.

Some good guides, people: national candidates' profiles (thank you, Plurkistan), iKuwaderno's full list and numbers (comelec.gov.ph was slow today), list of Baguio City candidates.

  1. Regarding the call center employees not being allowed to vote: That doesn't make sense at all! I am not quite sure what the circumstances are here. Were these call center agents not able to vote in advance? Isn't there some labor union here that can step in? Or are these employees more or less on their own? Also: I would be very interested to know who the owners of those call centers are. If they are foreign companies, they should be told by people in their Own country that this is unacceptable.
