The Man from Manila, 1964 - 2009

Francis Magalona, Filipino rap pioneer and one of my childhood heroes, passed away yesterday noon.

Damn. 'Nuff said.

I can't believe it myself
It's a heartbreaking surprise
How can I believe this
It couldn't have been your time
Many times I've said that
You're going to make it through, my friend
Now I know you've paid the price of time

Is there a way for you to turn around
Turn around and tell us, my friend
We're gonna see you again?

Cold summer nights, since you've left to go far
Cold summer nights, since you've left us all cryin'
Cold summer nights, here all on our own
We're gonna miss you man, now you've left us here

It's gonna be cold summer nights, man, we're gonna miss you
You rocked our world, what we gonna do without you
Nobody's fault that you've finally gone on home
It's just a shame we'll never get to talk on the phone

If there was a way to have you here with us again
We'd never want to change anything at all, my friend
Your music, your soul, your life, our inspiration
Francis M., thanks for everything, my man

Thanks for the memories, Kiko. Malungkot ang Pilipinas ngayong wala ka na, kababayan ko.
